Our mission is to raise funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation supporting critical programs for cancer research, prevention, survivorship, clinical trials and one day a cure.  We raise awareness by getting people to join us in the fight against cancer and giving them information on what the LAF is doing to make cancer a national priority.  We believe that we can be successful, raise funds and awareness while having FUN.

We are participating in the 2008 LIVESTRONG Challenge in Philadelphia, PA Aug. 24.  Led by testicular cancer survivor and Team Captain Brian Dowd, our team goal is to raise $30,000 to benefit the LAF and to recruit 50 team members.  In 2007, we raised over $22,000 and we had 27 team members. 

HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?  Choose to walk, run or ride, then join Team DOWN ONE. To join you will need to register and pay the $50 registration fee. People who select to walk or run are not required to raise funds after registration, but we do encourage you to raise more and help raise awareness.  Those that select to cycle are required to raise a minimum of $250, which is on top of their $50 registration fee.

The LIVESTRONG Challenge is the LAF’s signature fundraising event. The walk/run event is 5K and then there are bike events for 10, 40, 70 or 100 miles. The LAF inspires and empowers people affected by cancer.    They help people with cancer focus on living; they believe unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything.   The LAF is leading a national movement to make cancer a national priority in the 2008 Presidential race.  For more information, visit www.livestrong.org
